These friends looked so pretty in their fresh summer dresses and sandals--and stood out among the Saturday morning brunch crowd, most of whom were clad in shorts and wrinkled shirts. I trotted down the sidewalk to compliment them: the adorable young women told me they'd just been to a graduation, else they might have been wearing shorts and wrinkled shirts themselves. After they walked away, I realized I had failed to ask which graduation--and if it were their own graduation they'd attended.
