Woman & Pup....Blanding Street

I had ventured over to Columbia's Italian Festival, where I saw this fabulous woman walking with her pup on the sidewalk between the Robert Mills House and the Hampton-Preston Mansion. Such a jaunty style, no?
Here's another view.  Indeed, I hated to see her walk away.

Fatimah....Howard Street

I loved this young woman's look so much that I hopped off my bicycle and bounded over to her (inasmuch as a man my age can hop and bound).  Not only was Fatimah charming, but I once again experienced that peculiar delight that comes from making the simple request: Tell me about your clothes.  Nearly every person, it seems, is wearing an outfit with a story.  (Try it yourself and you'll see.)

Fatimah told me she'd gotten her t-shirt at a concert just a couple of nights ago. Her wonderful sunglasses are from Earthbound Trading Company, which has outposts in Myrtle Beach and Charleston.  She's also wearing her brother's shoes and her best friend's jeans.  She didn't say anything about the bag she was carrying, and alas, I forgot to inquire.

Kaci....Pride Parade

We were both on our way to watch today's Pride Parade on Main Street, when I met this adorable young woman.  Below a closer look....
 ...and yet another view, below.
To think she was merely a spectator. I found her ensemble worthy of a parade itself!

Debi....Shades of Autumn

As if being graced with a glorious mane of hair were not enough, fate saw fit to provide Debi with yet another fabulous vintage frock, as well. I was enthralled by both the fabric and the cut, so tried to sneak a photo.  If you are even an occasional reader of my ramblings, you may have some idea of how that goes....
Alas and indeed, I was caught in flagrante delicto....though for you, this means a better look at Debi's fabulous oversized sunglasses.

Shirley....Imeldific Updo

Stylish Tracie Broom and I happened to bump into one another at the Soda City Market, and not long after our congenial collision, bumped into this fascinating woman. Shirley told us she was heading to a gala of the Filipino American Association later in the evening, and for the occasion had requested an Imelda Marcos updo.

Here's another look at Shirley's hair....and below, a photo of Marcos with her signature hairstyle.

For better or worse, the shoe-amassing Marcos continues to be a touchstone for over-the-top fashion and has even inspired the term "imeldific," which means to be extravagant and to have no problem flaunting that. I, for one, liked Shirley's imeldific hair--and hope she had a grand time at her gala!

Pattern on Pattern....Boyd Plaza

I was totally taken by this woman's look.  The hat, mind you, was a birthday flourish, because she was attending a party to celebrate the one year anniversary of The Nickelodeon's new home on Main Street.
Here's another look.  Her body art reminds me--The Columbia Design League will be examining the art of tattoos at their September 17th gathering.
