Russell....The Big Apple

If Russell appears to be a bit startled, that's because he was. I'd been lurking between easels at this photography exhibition, attempting to snap a shot without catching his attention--but my flash gave me away. I liked his lean look, in slim jeans and fitted shirt, and also the way his hair stood up in a ruff atop his head. Altogether, it was simple yet striking.

When I explained that I was trying to capture him in his natural state, Russell laughed, telling me that I'd had no hope of that. "My natural state is sleeping," he said. Perhaps if I had encountered him yesterday rather than Friday, I would have succeeded, since Monday was National Public Sleeping Day.

Since I had his attention, I asked him to allow me this closeup.
