Katie....a Colourful Sweater
I adore a colourful sweater and if it has an element of the handmade about it, so much the better. Katie's not only brightened my afternoon, but with its granny squares on the sleeve, it also reminded me of dear, departed Aunt Agatha, who spent her Summer of Love living in a crocheting commune.
Before graduating to ponchos and one rather remarkable jumpsuit, Aunt A. first crocheted this pillow, which somehow came to me as a Christmas gift in 1973. (By then, I believe, she had moved on to weaving potholders.) Cheers to the granny square and its enduring warmth, both figurative and literal!
