A reader in Camden sent me this photo, taken at yesterday's Carolina Cup. The pretty young lady in the yellow dress, it seems, is the same impressive young lady who sang the national anthem to start the day's races. She's just 11 years old, yet kept her cool while performing that difficult song before some 70,000 or so people.
In any other case, I'd suppose these two were speaking to one another, as is the modern practice. But given her success, I wonder if she and her father are calling family with the news of her triumph....or perhaps, fielding calls from agents.
