Polka Dots....711 Whaley

I was charmed by this delightful pair in polka dots. I spotted them (if you will) at the All-Local Farmers' Market on Saturday morning.
People often ask me about the connection between the dots and the dance.  It seems when the polka craze struck in the 19th century, trendsters attached "polka" to any number of things--polka jackets, polka hats...and polka dots.
Though many types have been known to don the polka dot and and attempt to change its tenor (the professional wrestler Dusty Rhodes comes to mind), polka dots continue to be associated with frivolity, youth and general cuteness--precisely as embodied by the adorable tyke you see above.
